Fashion management, a relatively new discipline within the larger fashion and retail industry trains professionals in different aspects of marketing, merchandising and managing the product-this could be a brand new apparel product line or a new cosmetic range. It could be deciding the new look, feel and ambience of a fashion store or determining the possibility of the success of a product in a particular niche market. Fashion management involves garment retailing, merchandising and managing production facilities. It offers the right mix of marketing, merchandising and management knowledge and skills to match the human resource requirements of global fashion business. Students are taught market dynamics, which product to sell where, where to open new stores, how to promote the product, how to develop the brand-these are just some of the things picked up by students at any fashion management program. The course aims to transform students into unique professionals / designers combining creativity, entrepreneurship, technology and market awareness. One should be creative, imaginative, persistent and able to communicate their ideas in writing, visually and verbally. Because fashion can change quickly, designing should have innovative mind, well read and quick to react when trend changes. People in this field need to have self discipline to start new projects on their own responsibilities. When these qualities in one then it is responsibility of our fashion design college to develop those innovative ideas and change into projects. |
