A degree course in Batchelor of Arts with optional subjects in Garment Production & Export Management with Drawing & Painting, French as a foreign language with add on subjects Fashion Design or Textile Craft (approved by UGC) is offered by the academy looking into the demand of growing apparel industry in the country. The course is designed to address the industry requirement and aims to train students in comprehensive and practical core areas of textiles, merchandising / production and computer application. Comprehensive programme allows path way for graduates to move into the apparel industry as qualified and specified professionals.
Common modules of merchandising and production specialises the curriculum. Origin and psychology of textile such as fiber / yarns properties and key definitions and terminology used in the apparel industry are taught. Common modules will include an introduction to quality assurance for apparel; a short, intensive module of the different type of trims and accessories used in apparel industries.
The semester aims at enhancing an understanding of the traditional textiles and embroideries of India supported by contextual studies. Retail management with aspects of human psychology to commercial applications is an integral part of the curriculum. Fashion merchandising and marketing are key subjects with IT applications. The course also includes research and portfolio development.

GPEM Alumni can be employed in export houses, design studio, retail and fashion houses. They may work as a Fashion Designer, Fashion Coordinator, Design Manager, Fashion Merchandiser, Production Manager, Buyer, Quality Control Manager, Freelance Designer, Consultant, Stylist, Exhibition and Visual Display Expert, Fashion and Life Style Journalist, Costume Designer and Illustrator.Course |
