Nein Siao has 22 years of work experience both with industry and design academics. Her experience with the clothing and textile sectors (specialising in fashion fabrics and home Textiles) spans 7 years prior to joining academics, where she has designed and developed collections for reputed trade fairs,well-known export houses and textile firms - The Good Earth' 'ANOKHI, 'ITC Exports', Khadi Gram Udyog Indian Govt. Undertaking to name a few. Her academic experience involves serving as the Head of department , Fashion design and later as the Director of Noida centre, Pearl Academy. In academics, her forte has been developing design curriculums and supporting systems of teaching, learning and mentoring for online and hybrid, blended learning system for Fashion Design, Textile Design & Management and Fashion Design & Technology domain. In addition, Nein has contributed to and executed several research based projects including,the DEFRA PROJECT which was developed in conjunction with DEFRA (UK Department for the Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs) to address the sustainability impacts of the textile industry in India caused by the pattern of UK consumption, DelPHE PROJECT- the three-years , UK govt funded project addressed Sustainable growth, economic advancement and empowerment for women crafts-persons through training and skill enhancement Her experience as an author culminated into two books - Design Theory of Fashion and Colour & Basics of Fashion Design for BA Fashion Design, IGNOU publication and Development of Training programme and manual for Asian Paints staff in colour understanding and applications. Nein is an alumnus of Professional Educational Programme (PEP, Industrial Design-Textiles), National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad .and she has been working towards the development of Indian design, fashion and lifestyle industry and market and believes adoption of sustainable practices in the fast developing market is the future ahead.
