COURSE CONTENT
Arch has come up with the department of fashion and apparel design in response to the fast increasing demands of the industry. The course aims to transform students into unique professionals / designers combining creativity, entrepreneurship, technology and market awareness. Fashion Design offers an internationally relevant context for their studies; at the same time it reflects the genius and concerns of the Indian Industry. Fashion Design as a course has a well integrated multi-disciplinary curriculum for in-depth knowledge and learning design, liberal arts, fabric development, garment engineering, research and forecast studies, market merchandising and information technology. The creative & practical inputs of this course provide the essential links between the consumer and manufacturer.DESIGN PROCESS
The students follow a unique process inspiration-research-concept-silhouette development-creation of the final product. This process develops your design thinking & creative ability by undertaking a series of practical projects on women's wear, kids wear, men's wear, evening wear which covers all aspect of Fashion Design.Design presentation skills are developed through sketching, model drawing and illustration. Basic design elements enhances visual presentation skills, which helps in creating the final portfolio effectively.
APPAREL TECHNOLOGY
This programme will teach application and implementation of professional skills and competencies required by the Garment Technologist. In depth knowledge of Pattern Drafting, Grading, Garment Construction, Draping, Merchandising and related subjects are an indispensable part of the curriculum.MERCHANDISING
This phase of course curriculum emphasizes a career in the design & creative industry, particularly in the fast expanding sector of management, marketing & branding of creative services. This programme encompasses Sourcing, Quality Control, Costing & Merchandising.TEXTILE TECHNOLOGY
Textiles are the raw materials for any apparel and hence fabric science and surface ornamentation are dealt in this process in detail. Students are exposed to other aspects of apparels such as study of costume, world art and photography.COMPUTER AIDED DESIGNING
Computer-aided design software has added a new dimension to design technology. The syllabus consists of the best and latest design softwares like Lectra & Reach Cad to enhance designing ability of students.RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
Fashion and Apparel Design course is an analytical and in-depth program of garment construction and product development. Research projects, market survey and design process enable the students to develop rational thinking, resourcefulness, and communication skills.
