Course Intent

This course engages the student to understand the basic relationship of the user with the Interior habitat. It introduces various subjects of Interior Design, gives them an outline of how intricately integrated each element is in an interior space. Enhancing the aesthetic sensibilities, training them with the basic Design Communication tools and gradually guiding them to understand the fundamentals in the Design process. An intensive course that covers the essential aspects of the field with knowledge of modern tools in a short period of time.

This course will benefit those who have a desire to work in Interior Design and allied professionals in the building industry i.e. Contractors, Site Supervisors, Interior Product Vendors, Retailers, Wholesaler, Traders, Interior Product Manufacturers, Store Manager, Craftspeople, Homemakers and Students at the threshold of career selection.

Course Content

Students will get brief introduction to the industry, work on a residential Design project understanding the principles and elements of Design. They will learn to work on AutoCAD software. Prepare construction details and understand the process of Design. They will undertake a workshop project exploring building materials and developing an Interior Design product.

1 Wooden Furniture Design (6 months)

Course Intent

The focus of PRO Courses is technical understanding of the product and production techniques. This course will offer training and professional guidance to learners through research and experimentation, in well equipped, modern workshops. The course involves detailed and thorough learning process of Designing to manufacturing a furniture piece. Furniture related vocabularies will help the learner carry out their learning independently in future.

Course Content

The course will introduce types & history of furniture, concept of form and function and technologies used to meet the Design requirement. Material understanding w.r.t to tactile characteristics for wood, metal, stone, composite and synthetic materials used in classical and contemporary furniture along with environmental issues will be touched upon. Understanding of anthropometry, ergonomics, knowledge of hardware, tools and machinery will form the center of the learning. Manual sketching for communicating ideas and software like Sketch up and AutoCAD will be introduced to convey the Design details for the purpose of manufacturing.
