Business Industry Overview & Scope

The BBA in Design from ARCH College of Design & Business educates students in the entrepreneurial and strategic aspects of Design and in Design aspects of Business. Project-based studio and seminar courses integrate Business, Design, and Liberal Arts Education, promoting interdisciplinary learning through wide-ranging research and collaborative work.

The three-year curriculum encompasses introductory and advanced courses in strategic thinking and management in Design and Business; Innovation and Sustainability Research; Quantitative Thinking, Data Analysis, and Financial Management; Critical Reasoning through reading and writing, Visual Communication, and Information Design; Scenario Planning; and Entrepreneurship and Leadership.

Course formats include lectures with discussion sections, seminars, and studios, offering a range of learning experiences emphasizing individual and group work, project-driven learning and special workshops, as well as field-based research. In Senior Seminar and Thesis classes, students research and analyze both Economic and Cultural aspects of Marketing and Management of Designed Objects, Environments and Experiences.

The 3 years Design Management & Entrepreneurship Course brings together a diverse group aspiring to initiate and lead change in emerging fields: Business Professionals wishing to address Business Challenges through Design, Design practitioners seeking to acquire expertise in Business and Leadership, and Entrepreneurs looking to develop Transformative Business Propositions for an evolving Global Economy.

Course Content

The curriculum imparts understanding and application of Design along with Business and Computer skills. Term project at the end of each year showcases the skills learnt and knowledge gained. Fundamentals and nuances of Design are explored through group discussions, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, study tours, visits to galleries & museums and industry visits. Learners study University of Rajasthan prescribed subjects for BBA along with Design Management & Entrepreneurship curriculum.

Year 1

Learners in first year are introduced to career possibilities in the Design industry. The program brings together Appreciation of Art and Design along with the Design Thinking - tools borrowed from studio practice and applied broadly, such as Ideation, Prototyping, Design Research and Ethnography and Collaborative Work - and service Design and sustainability frameworks.

Year 2

Coursework incorporates cutting-edge analyses of the Digital information-based economy, which help students develop new business models and Organizational Designs for the creative industries. Master classes are structured to replicate real-world industry scenarios. Through a series of individual and group projects, the learner will analyze Entrepreneurial Behavior, and evaluate which contributions lead to the success of new Product ideas. During the process, the learner

will be introduced to different case studies to understand the maManagement and Entrepreneurship aspects.

Year 3

Industry-led projects will allow you to achieve a clear and comprehensive understanding of organizational structures and strategic objectives, develop business plans and develop solutions that support social values and sustainable practices, and imagine new entrepreneurial models. The acquired skills and knowledge are thus, applied to build a Management Portfolio.
