The ARCH College of Business Design and Research at Jaipur was visited
by Urvashi Kaur on Saturday. Urvashi is among India's leading fashion designers,
she embodies 'glocal' fashion – a hybrid expression of thinking globally and
acting locally, keeping her designs global in their construction but defiantly
Indian in their sensibility. She has successfully accumulated ample credits and
accolades to her label since her debut at the "Lakme Fashion week".
From being featured in Elle India’s "The Graduates " to being
shortlisted as one of the top 18 designers at Vogue India's first fashion fund.
Acclaimed women from different walks of life like actresses Shraddha Kapoor,
Dia Mirza, Swara Bhaskar; author Anuja Chauhan and sufi singer Sonam Kalra are
amongst many discerning patrons of the label.
Her 'masterclass' was titled 'An overview of Fashion
industry-Emerging opportunities for Designers and Entrepreneurs'. "The session was informative and resourceful, her insights were
impactful and students were delighted to be a part of this lovely
session", remarked Neha, a Fashion Design student at ARCH. Urvashi was
accompanied by Gaurav Jagtiani who is a consultant at Urvashi Kaur, owner at LINE
Design and Designer and co-Founder at Gaurav & Ritika. The founder and
director of ARCH Mrs. Archana Surana gave them a warm welcome and envisioned
them the goals of ARCH with ingenuity.
They toured ARCH's strategically designed campus having spacious
interiors and reviewed students' creative journeys. Urvashi and Gaurav felt
that the students' learning at ARCH is enhanced by study of design through
active involvement and observation. They were amazed by the artifacts created
by students.
Urvashi also inaugurated 'the ARCH shop' which is a high end outlet
located in ARCH campus featuring products which are designed by the students and alumni of ARCH and are a
fusion of unique and contemporary designs fabricated with traditional
processes. This boutique will target high profile individuals and young fashion
enthusiasts.
ARCH is a 17 years old premium design college, which provides undergraduate and postgraduate courses in fields of fashion, jewellery, interior, product, graphics and business having affiliations with University of Rajasthan and Pearson Edexcel.
Archana Surana, Founder and Director of ARCH College of Design & Business, has been re-elected as Board Member of the Cumulus Association Executive Board for the 2025–2028 term. She previously served as the Vice President from 2022 to 2025.
