Over 70
enthusiastic school teachers from across Jaipur gathered at ARCH College of
Design & Business to participate in "Unmasking the Artist
Within", a unique Art Therapy Workshop that encouraged
self-expression, creativity, and reflection through art.
The
workshop was led by Ms. Archana Surana, Founder & Director of ARCH, and was
organised in collaboration with the Sawai Man Singh II Museum Trust and the
Jaipur History Festival. The event created a space for teachers to pause,
reconnect with themselves, and experience the therapeutic joy of art-making.
The
workshop unfolded in three creatively designed phases. In the first, titled Creative
Serendipity, teachers explored the ARCH campus while crafting decorative
masks using an array of colourful and textured materials. This activity allowed
them to play, imagine, and create freely.
In the
second phase, Thoughts on Hands, a ball of wool was passed between
participants, symbolising connection, support, and the interwoven nature of
shared human experiences. The final phase, Hold Your Breath and Paint,
challenged participants to paint white T-shirts while holding their breath —
encouraging them to let go of control and dive into spontaneous expression.
The event
concluded on a high note as the teachers proudly walked the ramp, each wearing
their hand-painted T-shirts, celebrating not just their creations, but the
creative spirit within. It was a heartwarming day filled with laughter,
learning, and the rediscovery of the artist within each teacher.
