Master Class on Jaipur Lac Cluster: A Sustainable Livelihood Model
On the occasion of World Entrepreneur's Day, ARCH College of Design & Business hosted a master class on the Jaipur Lac Cluster, led by Ms. Monika Gupta, Secretary of Hahnemann Charitable Mission Society (HCMS) and Director of Sunrise Agriland Development & Research Pvt Limited.
Ms. Gupta highlighted key aspects of the sustainable livelihood model for artisans, focusing on economic empowerment, cultural preservation, women's empowerment, and sustainable practices. She stressed the need to balance traditional craftsmanship with modern innovations to ensure sustainability.
A significant issue discussed was the stagnation of Lac prices despite rising demand for innovative designs. Ms. Gupta pointed out that current prices have not changed in over a century, posing a challenge to industry growth.
The session also emphasized the importance of adapting to market trends and leveraging digital marketing to boost visibility and demand. This master class is part of ARCH College’s commitment to empowering future designers and entrepreneurs while preserving traditional crafts like Lac work.
