As the fifth edition of the Design Culture Learning Series (DCLS) draws toward its final theme, ARCH College of Design & Business continues its mission to connect design education with cultural relevance and professional practice. Under the guiding theme FORM.REFORM.TRANSFORM., the final sub-theme—Design Leadership—spotlights those who are shaping the future of design with vision, responsibility, and purpose.
This session brought together dynamic leaders who are redefining how design can be both impactful and inclusive:
Pratima Pandey – Founder and Design Head of Permaa by Pratima Pandey, delivered a compelling session on “Design Leadership for Craft”, focusing on how thoughtful leadership can preserve, innovate, and elevate traditional Indian crafts through contemporary design practices.
Samiir Wheaton – Co-founder of Wheaton’s Design, led the session “Designing with Soul – Leadership in Creating Meaningful Spaces”, sharing insights on how emotional intelligence, authenticity, and purpose drive the creation of spaces that connect deeply with people.
Neerja Palisetty – Founder of Sutrakaar Creations, presented “Business in Design – Creative Entrepreneurship in the Creative Economy”, demonstrating how leadership in design goes hand-in-hand with sustainable business models and ethical entrepreneurship rooted in craft and community.
With Design Leadership, DCLS 5 concludes on a note of inspiration—highlighting how leadership in the creative industries is no longer limited to innovation alone, but also embraces empathy, sustainability, and cultural continuity.
