On the occasion of National Handlooms Day 2025, ARCH
College of Design & Business reaffirmed its strong commitment to
sustainable, Made in India fashion and the revival of traditional
crafts. The celebration highlighted ARCH’s ongoing efforts to integrate India’s
rich handloom heritage into education through practical learning, industry
collaborations, and community engagement.
The campus came alive with students creatively styling
handloom attire, presenting fresh interpretations that blended tradition with
innovation. Speaking on the occasion, Founder & Director Archana Surana
remarked, “Handloom is not just a craft—it’s a responsibility and a connection
to our culture. At ARCH, students learn to honour heritage while designing a
sustainable future.”
With India’s handloom sector employing over 3.5 million
artisans, ARCH continues to support this ecosystem through its dedicated
Textile Lab, collaborations with the Weavers’ Service Centre, and partnerships
with Rajeevika, enabling students to work directly with rural artisans.
Adding to the festive spirit, the cast of the upcoming TV
serial Prathaon Ki Odhe Chunri – Beendani joined the celebrations to
honour Rajasthani culture. Lead actor Akash Jagga, who began his journey
with ARCH College by walking the ramp in one of its fashion shows, was
accompanied by co-stars Gauri Shelgaonkar and Monika Khanna. The
actors conducted a special masterclass, sharing valuable theatre tips and
insights with students.
Through such initiatives, ARCH College continues to
celebrate the artistry, culture, and communities behind every thread, preserving
the past while inspiring a sustainable and innovative future.
