B DES INTERIOR Design

This Bachelor of Design degree course balances creativity with sensitive, pragmatic design thinking. Our students are problem solvers and researchers who design ecologically sound and sustainable interior and spatial environments, where people thrive.

Industry mentors include practising architects, designers and other professionals, who are actively involved in the delivery of lectures and assignments to learners. ‘Live’ projects and ‘real life’ briefs support the content of the course inside the classrooms. Learners engage in integrated research and study of market trends to include their indigenous knowledge to analyse the brief, prepare initial ideas, and carry out market research, investigation and practical exploration into materials, processes and techniques. Industry projects and placements, and field trips provide opportunities for students to connect classroom theory, including the perception of space and planning along with colour theories and human interaction with built environments.

All aspects of Design are addressed and learners gain a thorough understanding of the contemporary professional practice and all facets of project management in the field of Interior Design. They develop an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the professional interior designer, and experience working within teams of other professionals.
